The MHSI Library and Resource Centre provides students and staff with access to a wide range of health science textbooks, reference materials, and learning resources.
The MHSI Resource Centre (Library) is a key facility supporting the academic activities of all students and staff at the institute. It houses an extensive collection of health science textbooks, clinical references, public health literature, and midwifery resources across multiple shelving units.
The collection includes core textbooks in Pediatrics, Clinical Medicine, Pharmacology, Surgery, Midwifery, Nursing, Sociology, Anatomy, and Physiology — spanning hundreds of individual titles. Students are encouraged to use the resource centre daily to supplement their classroom and clinical learning.
Our library holds resources spanning all core subjects covered in MHSI's three diploma programmes.
Core textbooks in clinical diagnosis, internal medicine, surgery, pharmacology, and patient management for clinical medicine students.
Comprehensive midwifery textbooks covering maternal health, obstetrics, neonatal care, and nursing practice for midwifery students.
Public health, epidemiology, community health, environmental health, and health promotion resources for public health students.
An extensive collection of pediatric textbooks covering child health, growth and development, and paediatric clinical practice.
Anatomical references, physiology textbooks, and supplementary materials supporting the basic science components of all programmes.
Drug reference guides, clinical pharmacology texts, and essential medicines resources to support prescribing and treatment competencies.
In partnership with Amref Health Africa, MHSI operates a Virtual Learning Support Centre (VLSC) equipped with computers for digital research, e-learning, and academic work. This facility was launched as part of the 2023–2030 Strategic Plan.
The VLSC gives students access to online health databases, e-textbooks, and digital learning tools that supplement the physical library collection — bridging the gap between Maridi and the wider world of health science knowledge.
Complementing the library, the MHSI Skills Laboratory provides students with hands-on practical learning using anatomical models, skeletons, clinical equipment, and simulation tools. The lab bridges the gap between textbook knowledge and real clinical practice.
Students regularly use the skills lab to practise procedures, study anatomy, and develop clinical competencies under the supervision of qualified tutors before entering real healthcare settings.
